Film critics Siskel and Ebert made Anita Sarkeesian’s same ‘Tropes vs Women’ point back in 1980.

Two things are particularly notable about this:

1. We are still struggling with the problem of demeaning portrayal of women in media 35 years on.

2. These men were not deemed frauds, liars, golddiggers or manipulators, despite making the same point as Sarkeesian, with the same implications for the media they critique (i.e. that it should stop using this damaging trope).
